SHAINA SURI is a designer and
photographer based in New York.

[a growing archive]
[a record of significant places]
[my photographic practice]
[a measuring device of memory]
[moments of inspiration]
[a means of experimentation]
[scenes i want to revisit]
[a starting point]
[comfort in times of need]
[an ongoing series]

The present continuous nature of the name is linked to the way I experience photographs. I believe they present momentary portals to the place, time, and feeling captured within the frame, which can be revisited by the simple act of seeing. Therefore, even if the actual shot was taken days, months, years ago – if [I] [you] [anybody] can look at it in this moment, for a second, we can be transported to its origin.

Shaina Suri is a designer and art director, specialising in multifaceted visual experiences. Representing layered narratives, her work and research draw connections amongst media, materials, and processes. In the form of visual identities, books, installations, websites, photography, and experiential projects – this pluralistic practice evolves into contemporary means of interaction and exhibition.
